Jan Stroosma (1928-1983) was one of the leading Frisian artists in the 20th century. Starting in the expressionist style, later on he worked as an abstract and conceptual painter and sculptor. This charcoal drawing is from his early period, when he studied at the Rijksakademie in Amsterdam. His beloved Waddenisland Ameland was also the inspiration for this drawing. In very good condition, signed Jan Stroosma, no date but with the word ‘Rijksakademie’ in pencil, the work can be dated between 1957 en 1961, framed 62×2451, drawing 43×27
